Sea of Åland is a side project of Daniel James Dolby. The tracks on Fresh Hell were initially created as backing tracks for one off live performances. I decided to continue working on these afterwards though, due to the extremely positive feedback I received after performing them. (Daniel J. ASOTWL (All Signs Of Those Who Left) is a side project of Daniel James Dolby. Switch the lights off and listen loud. Warning : May cause visual disturbances and feelings of unease ! Each track has the Ghost Frequency, 18.98hz, running through it. Supposedly it had been known to make certain people feel like they're being watched and see things out of the corner of their eye. Improvised soundscapes by Fabio Keiner (Austria). Shedim is the Hebrew word for demons or spirits and also designates a supernatural creature in Jewish folklore. It was possibly a loan-word from Akkadian in which the word shedu referred to a protective, benevolent spirit. The word may also derive from the "Sedim, Assyrian guard spirits" as referenced according to lore "Azael slept with Naamah and spawned Assyrian guard spirits known as sedim". With Expanoid , a sequel to his previous recording emahOMmmm , T.R.I.v.M. moved out from his usual dark ambient-drone-noise land into a more experimental territory. On the same basic layer as emahOMmmm, he tried to create something different, some kind of unknown spaces where strange entities live. ASOTWL (All Signs Of Those Who Left) is a side project of Daniel James Dolby. K-141 is inspired by the Kursk submarine disaster that occurred in the Barents Sea on August 12th 2000. All 118 crew members tragically lost their lives. 23 members of the crew survived the two explosions but later died primarily due to the the Russian navy only accepting help from the British and Norwegian navy 5 days after the disaster. All rescue attempts at that time were futile and the wreckage of the submarine...

Sea of Åland is a side project of Daniel James Dolby. Dolorous was recorded primarily as an exercise in sorrow. I, like many others, am dismayed at the state of this world we live in and long for better time that, at this moment, seem a long way away. I wanted to convey this in song form. Sea of Åland is a side project of Daniel James Dolby. The tracks on Extended Play One were based around drones that I recorded a while ago but had subsequently forgotten about. Jared Sagar, experimental composer from UK. Transmute is an exploration in sound, a thirty-five minute audio collage that delves into ambience, minimalism, micro sound, granular synthesis and field recordings, albeit manipulated beyond their original conception. This album is evolving, rather than being set in time, it flows from one process to another, growing in stillness and intensity. There is no rhythm, nothing to grab hold of, just sound to let your mind wander, focusing in on the moment....

The formation of this collection of sound pieces began with the piling up of arbitrary objects in a table drawer, which led to the making of a simple single coil pickup; it was just a small ceramic magnet of unknown origin and a copper wire taken out of an old telephone – this was the only recording device used on this album. Recording inside a small magnetic field required objects that are made of any kind of ferromagnetic material that could, in broad terms, vibrate. The above mentioned...

Original release by Throne of Bael Records (UK), October 2017. This release by Murmure Intemporel (France), December 2017. The Dyatlov Pass Incident (Russian: Гибель тургруппы Дятлова) refers to the mysterious, unsolved deaths of nine ski hikers in the northern Ural Mountains on February 2, 1959. The area in which the incident took place was named Dyatlov Pass in honor of the group's leader, Igor Dyatlov. The experienced trekking group, who were all from the Ural...

ASOTWL (All Signs Of Those Who Left) is a side project of Daniel James Dolby. Anneliese Michel (21 September 1952 – 1 July 1976) was a German woman who underwent Catholic exorcism rites during the year before her death. Later investigation determined that she was malnourished and dehydrated; her parents and the priests responsible were charged with negligent homicide. She was diagnosed with epileptic psychosis (temporal lobe epilepsy) and had a history of psychiatric treatment, which was...

Sea of Åland is a side project of Daniel James Dolby. Morning Star is the first part of a trilogy of releases based on the story of The War in Heaven. Part 2 will be more angelic and focus on the Archangels and part 3 will focus on the actual war. Most of the sounds were make with a bass guitar detuned to A, played alternatively with fingers and ebow, and ran through Sfx pedals (octave-fuzz, delays and reverbs).  Sea of Åland Murmure Intemporel - Archives I Murmure Intemporel - Archives II...

From UK, Cousin Silas is an ambient project by David Hughes. The name comes from a character in King Crimson's song "Happy Family". I've always toyed with the idea of having two long form pieces connected. Not like a part one and two, more an enhancement, a continuation, a relationship. In many ways, I suppose the idea originally came from Czukay and Sylvian's Plight & Premonition and Flux & Mutability. Silence & Solitude both evolve and feature pads and guitar and evolve...

ASOTWL (All Signs Of Those Who Left) is a side project of Daniel James Dolby. Peoples Temple was written as a a dedication to those who were victims of mass murder at Jonestown on November 18th, 1978. I discovered the FBI tapes of the final minutes of this tragedy online  in early 2016 and it had such a profound effect on me that I was compelled to compose around this recording to ensure that people are aware of the atrocities that occurred and how one man can manipulate innocent individuals...

Grid Resistor, music made with machines. A lot of current music is, to be honest; but just to use machine sounds. I would expect that to turn some people off. Music is supposed to have a human quality; and it should have certain sounds that we are groomed to expect. What is, then, the music of Grid Resistor? An industrial fetish? A sacrilege? Doesn't matter? Every sound in Grid Resistor is that of a machine, and it's hard not to notice a dark, eerie quality in it. Is that inevitable, because of...

Sea of Åland is a side project of Daniel James Dolby. Maritime is dedicated to my grandfather, James Bernard Dolby, a proud Navy veteran who passed away in 2016. Inspired by his love for all things nautical, I constructed the album around sounds of the sea to evoke the sense of solitude felt by a mariner spending his life away from his family traversing the vast oceans.
