Good script, well thought out plot, nice twists. Hugh Beaumont (Larry Craig), Edmund MacDonald (Lucky Brandon), Emmett Vogan (Police Capt. Brown) and Dewey Robinson (Steve the Bartender) give fine performances - neither over-the-top not stiff - but taught and engrossing. Mary Beth Hughes (Vicki McGuire), beautiful as ever, is good, with a healthy dose of suspension of disbelief - using her little girl voice, she plays a sweet girl who decides to play detective on a murder case - and never gives up - never occurs to her it might mean her life - she is always the sweet girl - particularly at the climactic end of the film - never distraught, never a hair out of place, always beautifully dressed. Claudia Drake is fine as vocalist Lucille Compton and sings well in the style of the times. Definitely worth spending an hour to watch.

I watched the first 10 minutes or so of this about there weeks ago; But i forgot about it until i started watching it again. Wow this was a great Noir talk about double crossing. I never for one split second thought Hugh Beaumont was the killer. And it seems from the ending that Lucky own up to his name, and strange as it seem the leading lady was not distraught, but relieved. Great Movie

The movie drags on, a bit, but in the end is revealing. I grew up with "Leave it to Beaver", so this movie was a real find. I will certainly keep it on my list, and suggest to a few childhood friends. Internet Archive is the absolute best. I contribute often, as should all other listeners!

Was really shocked to see Hugh Beaumont as a bad guy in this film. Beaver would cry all over the place.

I loved the costumes, the settings and boy, seeing Hugh Beaumont as an ass was a treat. I thought he was a bit prattling on Leave it to Beaver, but damn, he's a little terrifying here.

Not a bad little film. Could have done without the songs, but since a lot of the action takes place in a Night Club it's understandable.

The ever-lovely Mary Beth Huges, this time as a brunette, is super-solid in her role as the "bride-to-be". Always one of the "hottest-chicks-on-the-B-Screen", she doesn't disappoint here either. AND, please, get a close look at those LUSCIOUS LIPS of hers !! It doesn't get any better than that !!!

Hugh Beaumont gives a performance that the "Beav" wouldn't be allowed to see ! Bad to the bone. Which means "...he done good at being bad."

Film quality so-so, but if you've not seen it give it a shot. I'll give it 3 Stars for Mary Beth & Hugh...worth the price of admission.

Too bad the image quality is so lo-fi. I liked some of the nightclub scenes. Nice 40s interior decorating. Wild hats.

I passed this movie up many times since it was rated with only 3 stars. But I finally tried it and boy was i glad. This movie is a good black and white movie. The girls have furs to die for and the actors are good enough, but I was glad to see Hugh Beaumont act as a mad man, I only knew him as June's husband. He is mean and nasty, the story is good.

Please ignore. We know that it enjoys throwing its feces at humans.b

....Gets His First "Beaver"

This is pretty forgettable noirish mystery. At least it didn't bore me with melodrama, and it moves along well. The third act did provide some good suspense.

I downloaded the MPEG2 file. The video is often quite contrasty, and there are missing frames evident. The video and audio quality are otherwise good.
