The musical score of Final Fantasy VII was composed, arranged, and produced by Nobuo Uematsu, who had served as the sole composer for the six previous Final Fantasy games. Originally, Uematsu had planned to use CD quality music with vocal performances to take advantage of the console's audio capabilities but found that it resulted in the game having much longer loading times for each area. Uematsu then decided that the higher quality audio was not worth the trade-off with performance, and opted...

Chrono Trigger was scored primarily by Yasunori Mitsuda, with contributions from veteran Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu, and one track composed by Noriko Matsueda. A sound programmer at the time, Mitsuda was unhappy with his pay and threatened to leave Square if he could not compose music. Hironobu Sakaguchi suggested he score Chrono Trigger, remarking, "maybe your salary will go up." Mitsuda composed new music and drew on a personal collection of pieces composed over the...

Akira Yamaoka composed the music for Silent Hill 2 . At his home, Yamaoka took three days to write the music for "Theme of Laura", Silent Hill 2's main theme, by combining "a sad melody" and "a strong beat", although he does not consider the melody to be the "most important" element of a musical piece. He wanted the music to evoke emotions in the player. Silent Hill 2 makes extensive use of sound effects ranging from screams to footsteps on broken glass....

The most complete collection of music from the Street Fighter: The Movie games ------------- How about this for an unpopular opinion? The most massive collection of startup sounds, logo jingles, menu music, and speaker tests from retro game consoles, computers, and arcade cabinets ------------- If you ever owned one, hearing the startup sound of the Sony PlayStation will raise the hairs on the back of your neck. It will make you inch forward from your seat just to make sure the second part of the startup is working (otherwise the disc won't be read and that's a "sad Christmas"). The game's electronica soundtrack was mostly composed by Welsh video game music composer Tim Wright under the alias CoLD SToRAGE . However, additional music tracks were licensed from more established electronica acts to create the soundtracks for the PAL and Saturn versions of the game, as well as the promotional album, Wipeout: The Music. Additional music featured in the PAL version of the PlayStation game include tracks from Leftfield , The Chemical Brothers , and Orbital (also appearing on...

This is the complete soundtrack for the pc game Unreal, with all tracks (at least I think so) featured in the game. The official soundtrack CD only featured 20 tracks while this one has 28. However, the tracks are converted from the original .umx files from the game and have not been remastered. Also, unused tracks are not included as I wanted this one to be a storytelling of the progression in the game. These tracks are instead included in another Unreal music pack, while others were featured...

Kojima's choice of composer for Metal Gear Solid 2 was highly publicized in the run-up to the game's release, with him deciding upon Harry Gregson-Williams, a film composer from Hans Zimmer's studio, after watching The Replacement Killers with sound director Kazuki Muraoka. A mix CD containing 18 tracks of Gregson-Williams' work was sent to his office. Flattered by the research put into creating the CD (as some of the tracks were unreleased, and that what tracks he'd worked on for some films...
