Subtle field recordings and monotonous mechanical drones melt together to form one long, droning piece of music for empty space. Somewhere between lowercase ambient and isolationism

It's hard to describe this EP without resorting to thev inevitable Kranky references, because Drömminge EP's 12 minutes of melodic drones is obviously related to the soft, dreamy guitar of ambient bands such as Labradford and Stars of the Lid. But Midholm's background in industrial noise shines through from time to time, giving the dreamy soundscapes a sinister and rough edge sometimes lacking in the affor mentioned bands. Though this is only the second release under his own name, Karl Midholm...

I'm trying to think of another word then sinister to describe this noise ambient piece by Denmarks Wäldchengarten, but it seems impossible to find any other way to explain it. Layers of drones, scrap metal, feedback and possibly even guitars meld together into a massive wall of noise terror. Maybe not abrassive, but sure as hell very uncomfortable. What better way to start the fall then to take a plunge into the oozing slime pit of Wäldchengarten?

Jeff Surak is back on Fukk God, this time in the form of Violet. "Desperat" is a droning little fucker, ranging from distant beeps and squeeks, subtle melodies and even the odd rhythmic elements.

ModernArt is back after quite a long silence. In fact he hasn't released anything since last summer's split 7" with Dead Letters Spell Out Dead Words. But it's been worth the wait. Blackbookblackbox EP is just over 10 minutes of somnambulic drones with a sacred quality, soft crackling field recordings and chiming bells.

Oyster is Gregg Kowalsky (Osso Bucco) and Danny L. This collaboration between the two Florida natives incorporates their use of layered textures with subtle melodies and harmonic undertones. At times thin and buoyant and other times heavy and dark, Oyster is searching for the sounds within sounds. Within the heavy drones are light melodic patterns, which travel in and out of each layer. Upon each listen of their tracks, the listener should discover something new, such as new frequencies and...
