Heavy Early is melodic 4-piece from the centre of the continent. They've been bringing fuzzed out, flatland, surf rock to Winnipeg music enthusiasts for over a year now. Self described polite punkers - Heavy Early is 60's garage, 70's sit-coms, 80's trash all rolled into one. Slack rock, acid rock, cactus rock. One part Beatles, one part Pixies, one part Velvet Underground - shaken not stirred.
They've recently released a 7-song demo cassette entitled "What's not to Dig?" - a comic tragedy that's burning up the music charts worldwide. Heavy Early has their sites set on ass-kissing, selling out, and anything else that will make them bigger than The Knack. "We're really big in Japan," says Sunshine, Heavy Early's chick drummer and part time Playboy bunny.
Sometimes described as lettuce punk or vegetarian rock, they want to distance themselves from the likes of cock rock and hardcore slop.
"Catchy melodies and groovy guitars are what's always been IN," says guitarist/ladykiller Schneider, wagging his rubber weiner at the adoring crowds.
Heavy Early is music for hipsters, twisters, lounge lizards and daddy-o's. Fall in love all over again.
