Vladislav Buben, well known under the name Buben, is a sound artist and an imminent pioneer of the underground scene in Bielorussia. The connexion between Buben and Anton Mobin was established by Rinus van Alebeek, a few months ago, when Rinus asks Anton a technical help to digitalize sounds from a tape which be used by Buben to compose the great album released on Clinical Archives : Moral Tranformations (ca377) > http://www.archive.org/details/ca377_bra After this technical support, Buben...

With the utmost honor Just not Normal presents the fantastic music of the Spanish Carlos Suarez. Exporing the poetry of Artaud, this masterpiece was originally intended as a physical CD release, but as Carlos said; he is more interested in exploring new sounds rather then setting out to find a label to be published. We could not have been more proud to have him sign on for this grand release. Darkness has set and settles in your ears! About the poet/poem: (only in Spanish) 2.- Vulgus veritatis...

Many bulkloads of work went into getting this compilation album out there, but it is out there now! 71 artists, 71 tracks have turned into a 6 CD!!! compilation album making for over 7 hours of listening pleasure. The color of the sky at 5:57 a.m.; the smell of a dormant furnace, revived; the feel of dusty boxes. Bells, blips, and boooooms. Precipitation is inspiration. Closets are emptied --- long-hidden treasure awaits. Circuit-bent instruments, analog synths, abused vinyl, and field recordings serve as the orchestra on this release. It was somewhere in 2009 that through NTNS radio I first heard of this Hungarian artist. I had played an album from him that was released on Amduscias Records and I loved that to bits. The silence after that settled in untill early August Szentpétery contacted me and asked me if I was interested in releasing his latest album. Without hearing even a single tone I welcomed him onboard and new that I would be proud of this fine fine release. And so it did turn out to be; this 12 track album...

The twelve pieces on this album reflect an ongoing interest in the temporal processes underlying musical creation from two apparently contrasting yet ultimately similar musical contexts. Post-modernist, systems-based pieces for traditional classical ensembles stand side-by-side with more static electronic works. In the former category the obvious reference points might be the work of Steve Reich and other minimalists but in contrast to the extended time-scales operative in such work, the pieces...

Of Places and Moments is a celebration of the art of field recordings. The tracks to be included utilized recordings from the Sounds Found Project, a repository of user-contributed field recordings. The source recordings were mangled, manipulated, abused and violated, in some cases beyond recognition, to create 18 distinctly different interpretations ranging from minimal drone, to noise, to electronica.

Mike Metlay's body of work has always included abstract noisescapes, a passion he's enjoyed for nearly three decades. (A recent example is JNN014, The Redundancy Of Suicide by mindSpiral.) Mike's main noisescaping device is "Thing One", the Oberheim Xpander analog modular synthesizer he has been playing for 25 years now. Currently, as for the past 10 years or more, he uses Thing One primarily for self-modulating noise textures that can be manipulated in real time with broad control...

"Stereoscopic laid is an experiment in sound. What you are hearing are not 'sounds', but in fact are 'images'. The idea behind this album was to generate sound tracks equivalent to stereoscopic images, in which you see a slightly different point of view of the same scene with each eye, creating the illusion of depth. The process was really simple, I chose for each track an image and I generated two similar versions with a minor deviation, similar to the perspectives that both eyes...

In Greek mythology, Ixion and Tantalus were both legendary for their extreme hubris and the dire consequences that befell them as a result. Each was granted an audience with the gods, and betrayed the generosity shown to them. So many tales abound of the transgressions these two figures made against the gods that there is no one story to explain their unique fates. The first piece, “Hatchling,” was recorded during a live broadcast on the StillStream internet radio station on November 1, 2008. “Abandoned Amusement Park (Gone To Weeds)” was another live StillStream performance, broadcast on March 14, 2009. We hope you enjoy these sonic curiosities, “sung” in an alien tongue…

As oft throughout the year electro-music.com feasts on special occassions with a team of performers galore. And so they did on Halloween, be it a day later though, sunday october 31st. One of the sets of that evening was from Jack Hertz. And Iâve been listening to it now for the last hour. There is but one thing missing in all this; images. Then again, all you need to do is put this on your player and for a full hour youâll find yourself in a haunted story. One that happened on a black...

Celebrating the 50th release on JNN I've invited some of the best (netlabel)artists from around the globe to join this massive compilationalbum. In total 52 artists joined to create the finest in what is available in experimental music these days. Much of what you hear is unreleased work with the exception of a handful. These tracks have been carefully mastered and put together to present to you a 4 CD epic journey into sound. Together with the artwork the puzzle lies ahead to find out what...

This album was played well over a month ago on NTNS radio and stirred a great big vibe inside. Luckily Julia Mangore has obliged in Just not Normal providing for a more permanent home for this radical album. Experimental IDM I’d say, but her myspace page says it all: Psychical sonic, phonic, sometimes tonic experiments by Julia Mangore and OctobrineXIII, since 2009.

Another first timer on Just not Normal we are proud to present is Jonathan Ewald from Madison Wisconsin US better known under his artistname Litmus0001. There may not be as many releases to his name but those that are are sublime. Tending more towards the ambient rather then the experimental these three tracks have specifically been chosen to feature on Just not Normal. During 2009 Jonathan presented a podcast/mix show on the Notheen radiostation called 'Psychosonic aether' which ran for 21...

Post 'post meridien' Dzlav returns with fresh new toys and an even more sophisticated psychedelia unleashing his toys onto the dancefloor of your mind. There is something ever so effective and affective in his tunes, that would bring the quirkey brain to dance of the ceiling. In the end there is no good way to describe this album, but Just not Normal it is!

Awake in a dark room is the follow-up EP to Slow Motions, compiled from leftover tracks recorded before the album sessions, and one newer track (Avoid A Void). Because this EP consists of material recorded vaguely around the same time as the Slow Motions sessions it very much is a companion piece to the album, though musically itâs pretty different. Tracks 1 & 4 consist almost exclusively out of E-Bow sounds, while the middle two tracks combine the use of E-Bow with more traditional guitar...

C Reider, the man behind Vuzh and the man behind the ‘Electret Quintet’ series has certainly taken a different direction with this single track release. Amidst the field of drones, drummachines and recorded sounds he creates an ambience of experimental finesse. Dive into a strange world that will enchant your ears and take you on journeys not taken before.

My initial apologees first of all should go out to the patient Jóse who had to wait a rather long period before todayâs release. Sorry sir, but timing was a bit awkward with JNN dwindling down in its initial pause. His and for certain your luck, is that now with NTNS dwindling down in its initial pause there is time and lust again to get back and release some gems your ears will certainly appreciate. There is very little I can tell you about the artist, all I can share are the sounds that...

Whereas the material for DANADAX's first LP "DAXSCAPES I" spanned several years, the tracks on the project's second LP reach even further into the past and further into the future. Some of the cuts on "DAXSCAPES II" were made during the time DANADAX's first 2 EPs were recorded (back in late 2004). A heavy majority of the tracks on "DAXSCAPES II" were created during the same sessions for "DAXSCAPES I," (2005 - 2007) and even a few tracks on the second LP...

Of all the remarkable releases from all over the globe this certainly stole my heart with its most weird and live recorded tracks that meander somewhere between the sound of The Orb, Merzbow and Zappa. A remarkable trio indeed to make its appearance in an album notice. AKU is a group of artists that got together in the Smooth Studio in Bandang, Indonesia in Januari 2010. One not often hears music from this island group, but there is most definately a lively experimental scene happening there....

MindSpiral is a series of collaborations between Mike Metlay and anyone who doesn’t hang up when he calls. This incarnation, mind6Spiral, resulted when Tim Walters (see e.g. JNN03) traded a night’s lodging (10 August 2008) for one hour of feeding audio from his laptop into Mike’s mixer, while Mike added his own sounds and a live audience on StillStream.com listened. It was a fair trade. Mindspiral Tim Walters
