In December 1930, musician Carl Kay embarked on an "Around the World" cruise aboard the Red Star Line's SS Belgenland as a member of Fischer's World's Fair Orchestra of Kalamazoo, Michigan. From 1895 through 1945 the Kalamazoo Public Library saved correspondence from prominent individuals. Many of these letters are handwritten and all are signed.
