We're delighted to present another release from the divine UK-er and ex-Butterfly Child dream-pop-ster, Pendle, in his cheeky Idmonster alias. With recent Idmonster material on real-world compilations from Neo-Ouija and Notype, people seem to really dig his smooth, truly serene style, which he puts to good use composing soundtracks for a diverse range of TV documentaries in the UK. And we treasure the 'Monster too :) His latest track, "Low Flying Planes", is magisterially ethereal. It...

Although sometimes overlooked, due to their release on Monotonik's lesser-known sublabel Mono211, the two albums we've put out so far by Dutch ex-techno producer Izmar are, everyone seems to agree, pretty damn special, twinning Fila Brazillia style grooves with gorgeous melodies. So, when we got a whole extra CD of material from him (to be dealt with soon!), plus a follow-up of this lovely four-track EP, we grinned happily and got on with the harrowing job of actually releasing it, starting...

One of the first all-ambient releases on Monotonik in quite some time, this 3-track EP from relatively undiscovered Japanese artist Akira Kosemura is a beautifully naturalistic drift through what sounds like field recordings twinned with sweet sine waves melodies - reminiscent of anything from Lackluster at his most ambient to fellow Japanese Monotonik releaser Sabii. Thus, we have three delicate treats to enjoy - firstly, 'Forest In The Morning' has a repeated motif and an almost sepuchral...

Though the group originally started as a three-piece collective consisting of Sandro Boege, Paul Krege and Marc Hofling, nowadays, just Sandro is at the helm, and Monotonik is proud to present 'Daylight Confusion', a dense 55-minute 'EP' that's the first major release from New Delhi FM in over 2 years. Since Twilight is sitting next to me as I write this, it's going to be difficult to write anything without feeling very paranoid. :) Anyhow, the tune's got style, the tune's got grace, Rita.. oops, I almost started vogueing there. Twilight isn't peeking, apparently. Oh, and you may well spot a little reference to Hades in the tune. Phew, it's hot down there. And hot up here too, or would be if 'they' cared. Another completely original guest-star tune from the 'reclusive' 4T Thieves, stuck out on an island off the South Coast of England making some of the weirdest, most exhileratingly alien MODs I've heard in quite a while. Hear the depth, won't you? Stuck out in the moons of Venus, diving into the seas beneath Saturn, or just chillin' out in your bedroom, Mono takes you out there. Out _there_ :)

More of the pretty unique Bay Tremore junglistics, and this one is bordering on the gorgeous - full of little turns and cut-ups and organ stabs and drums on drums, and for four channels too, it's maddeningly good. This time, a Monotonik debut for Finnish graphic artist and musician Flutterspot, and pretty much his first music release anywhere, with the gorgeous electronic tones of 'Labmat'. What do we like about this? Well, for starters, 'Daily Sway Of Everything (That You Touch)' is satisfyingly chunky, before 'Sky So My' segues into some smartly rotating beats. Originally an entry into gc27, this is the 16-bit version of a truly beautiful track by Finnish idm maverick Distance. Another debut, then, and this time an American practitioner of the dark idm arts, in the form of Ann Arbor, MI-based Dead Eros. Monsieur Eros has run his own Music Is For Assholes label for some time, hangs with the Ghostly International chaps, but produces a distinctly contrasting output to anything they might put out - from light, sinewave-strewn idm to dark, foreboding ambient. Thus, 'When EP' is three pieces of brightness and one chunk of shadow, with lead track 'When We Are Home'...

We're delighted to welcome back multiple Monotonik releaser Planet Boelex, who's provided us with an awesome 60+ minute live set, featuring all self-composed Boelex material (much of it new!) recorded at the recent Virus Festival in Lithuania. Boelex, whose tracks have also appeared on Kahvi and Ogredung in recent years, has a beautifully layered pure idm sound, and the mix showcases the downtempo, chilled nature of his sound briefly, starting out with 'Forever And Always' and moving on through...

This wikked track was composed by TheFoxII last year, but not given a proper release, so Mono is happy to give it the attention it deserves. Some cute acid leanings, great dynamics, kicking percussion/effects, and those heavenly chords make this MOD a journey into headspace you won't forget in a hurry. No, we really do like it. ;)

Another Subi release, another completely indescribable but pretty damn cool piece of elektronik musik. This one's quite old now, but definitely still worth releasing.. _definitely_, hehe. Subi's given me the list of samples he used for this mutha, and interested parties might like to know the main sample is from Mukkaa "Neebro", and the other samples come from Subi himself, Tango, The Prodigy, Dream Frequency, NRG, and Love Decade. Classy, maaan. Wind it up. :)

Subi returns with another unique experience - late analogue synths and tinges of happy hardcore make for an early-Prodigy influenced belter. Listen to the track build, and build, and build.. hmm, 'A500 Luddism' sounds pretty, uhh, interesting from where I'm standing. :)

Yet another masterpiece from Dreamfish, showcasing wonderful quality drum and bass from one of the best Amiga musicians around at the moment. But I'm his label-boss and official supplier of suspect text files, so of course I'm going to say that. ;) Naah, seriously, check the flute, the great use of piano.. this tune rocks, and you know it. :)

Whilst our long-time companion Vim! is preparing for his second album on Surgery , upcoming material on Civik , and his appearance on the Machine Drum remixLP on Merck , he's been doing some sabbatical work on the VERY cool Nintendo Gameboy music creation software package, 'Little Sound DJ'. So, exclusively for the benefit of Monotonik types, we have this megamix-styled Vim! jam, "Time For The Squares", all created just using an old-style black+white Nintendo Gameboy and LSDJ!...

We're delighted to release this 3-track EP from Seathasky, who you may not think you've heard of, but is also known as previous Monotonik releaser Blisaed, who uses this moniker for his more electronica tinged, beautifully produced electronic music. And, well, we'll let Blisaed himself describe his release: "Matthew Centonze, as an artist, has been in the game since 1997 creating music for the Internet scene for many different netlabels under his IDM/experimental moniker Blisaed. Now,...

A debut on Monotonik, then, for Finland-based electronic music artist Ocbalt, with some delightfully bubble, vocoded tracks from his upcoming 'Vintage Art' album. The full album should be out on a physical label pretty soon, but we, luckily enough, get a digital EP to precede it, with the brief spoken word 'What Is Art?' seguing swiftly into the surprising bleep-pop of 'Bribe', which showcases sweet multi-tracked vocoded singing and super-catchy synths, all stutter-step. The other two tracks...

U.S. veteran idm artist Transient is practically an old hand at Monotonik releases now, since this is his third for the label, quite apart from some stunning EPs and albums for netlabels like One and his own Noisy Vagabond Recordings. And 'Work/Play EP' is a wonderful, aptly named split album, since it was composed both on work breaks with a Palm handheld (the 'Work' half) and at home using Impulse Tracker (the 'Play' half), and both halves show inspired mastery of melody, vocoded vocals, and...

This was originally the first ever CD release on Monotonik, back in 1999, and was a limited-edition CDR from Lackluster, aka Distance, the Finnish ambient/idm maverick and proud Monotonik artist. The disc was limited to 100 individually numbered copies. The tracks themselves offer 12 tracks of gorgeous idm goodness, some previously released online, but now all gathered together on CD for the first time, and with a number of exclusive tracks. You can find out more about Lackluster via his...

We return once more to the Monotonik fold with the mp3 debut from Hoffman, who's currently DJ-ing a number of techno nights in the SouthWest of England, and shows he still has the goods on the composition side, too, with this great piece of phasing minimal techno. We were initially thinking this didn't fit in with Monotonik-style, majestic though it is - but then we realised, of course it fits - Hoffman's a massive part of Mono (he had the first ever release, for one), and Monotonik's aim is...

The first EP release online from Monotonik, and that quirky English idm-ster, 3818919/w, comes up trumps with some beautiful tracks influenced by everything from Bola through Bochum Welt to Plone. The lead track, "Nachos Supreme", is full of wonderfully twisty riffs and nimble drums, and "Ages" and "Cheshire" float into melodic ambience of the slightly surreal, fevered kind, whilst the final tune, "Shift-Break", uses clunks and robot voices to bring the...

Australian idm wonderboy Thug, aka Tim Koch, lets us borrow some moreof his latest and greatest tracks for exclusive mp3 releaseon Monotonik, and boy, are we glad he did. This particular tune weaves the dense idm melodies (that has him compared to early Black Dog) with complex rhythms and hues to create somethingrather original. "Sudafed x2" continues to delight on multiple listens, not leastbecause of the strange static impacted undertones, but in themain because it's just beautiful...

Courtesy of probably the most renowned artist on Monotonik, Finland's pukka idm maestro Lackluster , late of DeFocus Records, Merck, Rikos, and a host of other labels, we have a rare treat - a full, hour-long live set recorded at Helsinki's M-Bar in July 2003. There, using a laptop running the great Ableton Live software, Esa 'Lackluster' Ruoho mashed up classic Monotonik tracks, remixes, and on-the-spot jams into a cohesive whole - highlights include a gorgeous unreleased track, the...

It's a pleasure to be able to put out the second Monotonik release from the Russian duo, Sleepy Town Manufacture (who are newly expanded to three with the addition of a new German-based Russian member.) They ended up tapping their friends, both 'famous' and up-and-coming, to remix their dreamily ambient 'Latatoo' track, which is featured on the forthcoming "Cottage Industries 3" compilation on the ever excellent Neo-Ouija . And, as the icing on the cake, Sleepy Town have complemented...

After the unexpected and tragic loss of Andi Horvath, aka Ramone/Mono, of a sudden heart failure in June (tribute page here ), we at Monotonik+friends were contacted by his friends at Fruitz Of Dojo (the Mac demo-scene group he was a member of) with a number of great unreleased Ramone .XM tracks (playable in WinAmp) which had been composed, in the months before he passed away, for both a demo ('Fistful Of Dojo') and a 'chip' music-disc ('SuperSIDekick Sessions'). Wandering and wondering at the same time, artists such as Distance and Jiva define the unique Monotonik style, and this interpretation by Viinikala (of an unreleased Distance track) glides slowly along the same heavenly path. We've got the deliciously pure synthsounds, we've got the pulsing atoms pulsing the atmospherics, and it all adds up to the smallest slice of chilled serendipity. Comparisons? Naaah. :)

Well, Mono's especially pleased to feature a guest release from one of the masters of the PC elektronik sound, Keith303 of Radical Rhythms. This track was composed 'specially for Mono, and was to have been part of a Mono vs. RR EP, until spare time problems forced that to one side for a while. But we still intend to get a Mono and RR co-operation going sometime in the future, so watch out for that one... and in the meantime, enjoy this wikked track.
