Yes! It's the legend himself - Mr. Ken Nordine (born 1920). A favorite of mine from way back - I don't have all of his many records - but plenty enough to do a few episodes! This show features cuts from the albums Word Jazz, Son of Word Jazz, Love Words, Colors , and Stare with your Ears . I have to love a show where I get to wallow in spoken word records AND hear cool music with it as well! Postscript :  just a few weeks after I typed the above, we lost Ken on February 16th, 2019 at age 98. ...

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later - here I am with yet another darned show revolving around the Fabs. In this instance, I went for inspiration to a classic radio show from 1984 by the Big City Orchestra on the Over the Edge program (which can be heard in all of its glory here ), where our theme that night was entitled simply Beatles Hell , and which was later edited down into a one-hour cassette release of that name by the band. That program inspired the later work begun in 1989-90...

Here comes another listener favorite. A lot of careful editing and craftsmanship went into the making of this show. A number of rare tracks (such as material from the making of "Her Satanic Majesty's Request") and material reaching from the 1960s through the 1970s. A great deal of quality Stones is crammed into this one-hour show (or, "A trip down memory lane." as one listener described it - which it is, but given my usual special touches).

As a long time Batman collector, especially record albums, I have often DJ'd sets of Bat-covers and ephemera, and here is my latest version. I sat on this particular episode for many weeks before assembling it, as I often do - waiting for strong inspiration to make it come alive for me, also I was concerned as usual with how it would all "gel" together, if at all. I tend to not want to do musician theme shows as merely "music cut followed by music cut", so I searched out a lot of interesting EXTRA vocal and non-musical bits to make it fun for me and I like the final outcome on this one! Crank it and see what you...

Part one of my two hour special episode about this swell guy here. The focus is mainly on single release mixes and I worked long and hard on the construction and segues in this one as I had waited two years to finally attack Bowie as a show subject. A lot of this first part is made up of lesser known early singles and it has some hard-rockin' sequences, so, as usual, Turn It Up ! And don't miss Part Two of this Bowie Fest here:...

A one hour tribute to vintage sound effects records. I've included a few really old ones from 78 rpm discs, but mostly long-players from the 1950s and 60s. Here's a VERY full hour just packed with Television Theme Music, as well as selected singles and album cuts in that vein. Having been born in 1961, I confined the scope of this thing to late 1950s to early 1970s TV music. This is the current record-holder for number of cuts played in one show. Notably absent are the themes from Spider-Man and Star Trek , as they have their very own episodes. Just for fun, here is a complete list of the tracks: Friday's Theme, To the Batmobile, The Streetbeater...

Like the poster above says, here's another all - Zappa theme show. It strays a bit here and there from the path, but it's a fun game for Zappa-heads to identify which albums that the different pieces issue from. I was surprised at how many compositions I was able to fit into this hour! I had to keep pulling more material as I went along. Enjoy these perky "pop" tunes from Frank pal. Here comes a wonderful selection of ballads and rockers that inspired the Beatles. They also did their own cleverly re-arranged cover versions of many of them. One instrumental piece in particular that I had never heard before really floored me in that Paul McCartney flat-out stole a melody from it and turned it into "Lady Madonna"! A very fine multi-artist set with probably more than a few pieces that you have never heard before. Recommended for the educational as well as the...

Good ol' noisey Big City are back for another turn on our show, this time beginning what will be an ongoing showcase for their custom-made radio programs, made specifically for particular radio stations around the globe over the years, with unique music pieces and mixes, loads of hilarious fake ads, psas, and peculiar station IDs and ephemera. This episode features a half-hour show made just for WFMU in 1996, and we'll hear several rare cuts from BCO to fill out the second half of the show,...

On a goofy whim, I decided to make my first all- Zappa episode a challenge for myself - to make it LESS challenging for people who can take him or leave him.  I set out to find an hour's worth of the nicest, sweetest, most romantic music of his that I could sift out of several dozen records, both with the Mothers and without. I'm very happy with the result. In a future episode I'll come back to Frank and his pals and play some more rare and unusual stuff. Here is the setlist for this show:...

Having just recently picked up a vinyl copy of the sixth and final record with the original lineup of the band Bad Company , I knew it was time to devote a whole episode to this band I'm fond of. Enjoy an hour of my favorite cuts by members Paul Rodgers , Simon Kirke , Mick Ralphs , and Boz Burrell . Since I forgot to mention him in the show, a big shout out goes to Mel Collins , who played wind instruments on all of their records and was really the fifth member in a way.

In the course of my three seasons of this show and counting, I've made a habit of creating unique remixes/remodels of familiar songs by the featured artist or group in an episode. After completing a recent show that had more than the usual share of custom mixes I hit on the idea of doing an episode which collected the best of four years of these unique re-dos. And of course, I wanted to also squeeze in a custom remix especially for the custom remix show! So, it is an extra-crazy show! Turn it...
