something that is going to be starting early next year, led by the sfmta. when these parks start happening for recreational users, we will also meet with mark tempi -- commuters to make sure they have a chance to q use bikes and the go to work. bicycle growth in the city has been phenomenal over the past few years that we want that much more of a combination. i think it is a neat idea for us to be able to begin at one park, and today you can go from here to the marina or herman plaza. you can go today and drop off that bike. on your way, you can pass by city hall and vote. do important activities. this is an amazing thing. i really do like the idea that you can just drop it off and not worry about it. you can go by the hour, by the day. everything is taking care of. i think that is just the solid beginning of bike-sharing across the city and the bay area. i think this is another indication that we want to be alternative mode transportation friendly. so we're working with the other cities around the bay area to do the same thing. so for those enthusiasts who

the sfmta is engaged in unlawful activities. i bring to your attention city ordinance 101217 dated november 2010. specifically, the problem is that there are certain streets in the city that are private streets that the mta knowingly continues to write parking citations on. that is unlawful. how are collecting fines and that is also on lawful. i live in mission bay where this is an issue. we brought it to the attention of numerous people, we continue to have this problem, i have spoken with members of this board and they say they shouldn't do that. they have given us the runaround at this point in time. i want to see the mta corrected this problem. i want to issue refunds to all the people that have been illegally sited, and i have 27 pages that i have obtained, at just a random time covering certain streets of which many of them are unlawfully issue. one other item. i live on mission bay boulevard. it lacks speed limit signs in the stop signs on key intersections. where there was once a single speed limit sign which is about a

we're already working on the 30% design in cooperation with sfmta. it looks as though this project is now ranked as the highest priority nationally for federal small starts. it can be a reality. not very far behind it is the geary project eir which is now going through the same stages as the van ness one. we're now in the throes of during the capacity modeling that needs to be done on these projects. four different alternatives. not that different from van ness. that project has a number of additional challenges, in particular the intersections of fillmore and masonic, which of course is under the other street and generate some challenges and some opportunities. i will continue to keep you posted on progress on that project. we have also been making significant progress on the state of the sentences the transportation plan. this is our 30-year look at transportation needs. it feeds right into the regional efforts on the regional transportation plan. and we completed the first phase of outreach, and we expect to be briefing the technical and other com

implement this sfmta traffic-calming project, which is to reduce auto traffic and make it safer to walk for pedestrians. the school has also implemented the safe routes to school plan and has been working with all of san francisco government departments. with all that said, marshall elementary school's main request is that the garage be relocated to south van ness avenue as not to add more traffic to the school. and keeping the garage off of 15th street -- keeping it on 15th street, i'm sorry, would be counteractive to the home zone project and the safe routes to school plans. finally, in our last meeting just yesterday, we found out that the developer is in agreement with us to a have the garage relocated to south van ness. so as a voice of marshall elementary school and as a resident of the neighborhood myself, we ask that you consider this request to improve the safety for our children and for our neighborhood, because the whole plan is to make this neighborhood more walker friendly, so any traffic that you add on to the neighborhood is going to just make it worse and not better. and

help from our fleet director tom fang and deputy city administrator and working with the staff of the sfmta to implement it. very exciting day to see it come to fruition. one of the things that makes us so great to work for san francisco is we're not afraid to do bold or innovative things. i will share with you we put together a pilot with five spaces city wide that we were going to move forward. when it got to public hearings, when it got to the board, rather than have people react negatively do it, they reacted very positively. they said five spaces actually weren't enough. so we ended up being able to add six more spaces to the pilot program. so people wanted to go more big and more bold. and our leaders wanted to do that. and that makes it exciting every day to come in and to have those new ideas when they're so well received. so i think this is going to be a great success. i think just the initial response to it with people saying what about my neighborhood, let's try it out in my neighborhood. it's very positive and i really look forward to seeing this rolled out beyond the pilot city

government audits and oversight committee on the controller's city services auditors review of the sfmta work orders for the year 2010-2011. as many of you know, the mta presently spends about $60 million in the work order services provided on behalf of the mta by other city agencies, and the controller has been conducting a review of that process, and the review is complete. for this hearing, we will have an opportunity to hear what, if any, progress has been made with respect to work orders. when you think about it, even a 10% reduction in work orders, that is $6 million and would be more than enough to pay for something. 20% reduction would actually pay for increased services throughout the system. this presents a new opportunity for us to really get to having a better understanding in terms of a nexus between what is being paid for and the nexus, the connection to public transportation. the second item is a resolution that i am introducing supporting the regulated and safe patient access to medical candidates. i want to thank the following colleagues who are cosponsoring this resolut
