After a bit of hiatus VNN is back with a release by KOMBINAT. I'm not entirely sure if there's a sub-genre of noise called "space noise" but that's how I'm describing this one. Very atmospheric and it just feels like you're floating around and exploring some alien space craft outside Alpha Centauri.

Quite the departure from the harsh noise that is usually produced by Texas' own System 09. This album is very beat driven at times, and I dare say some tracks could fall into the category of darkwave / dark ambient. The later tracks on the album are very glitchy and at times draw on the simple sounds of dadaism.

Dark textures, ambient soundscapes, abrasive and guttural layers of harsh noise all the while being very slow moving (not like a bad movie, more like waiting for the end of the world). Great wall/harsh noise for your ear drums.

This is the genre defining album for digital MIDI-Destructionnoisecore. 189 tracks encompass this barrage of sound of pummeling noise. This album was recorded from May to June 2009 using MIDI's from Metroid from vgmusic.com and other "crap" (artist's words). The title of this release is a joke, so get over yourself already.

"My longest single release ever: six hours of noise spanning 100 tracks. Some tracks are in the style of "Water Bottle Caps", using samples in irregular ways and turning rhythmic tracks into ambiance. Others are more styled in the way of "Floor of a Cell", in the way of harsh noise dispersed in short tracks. The rest of the tracks are remixes of old songs or re-releases of "Zero Acid" tracks. I suppose the only place to go from here is to make the 24 hour long...

Sixteen Years of Being Afraid is a mixture of harsh noise and 8-bit sounds that can only be describe as a computer gone awry. The textures created are woven into a composition that is full of high and low dynamics that I find very easy to listen to and comprehend plus a sense of emotion that ties the soundtrack back to it's title. The included text file includes the original titles in Russian.

Four untitled tracks of harsh fucking noise from tomb whacker and assholemouthead. The front of the split is assholemouthead and the tracks carry a very lo-fi aesthetic (they sound like they were recorded in a cave, in a good way) with a very spacey / eerie vibe. The back side of the split is tomb whacker, with a denser more complex contribution. Both artists' tracks have good movement that keep your ears from going numb.

Probably some of the most rhythmic harsh noise you will ever hear. Glitches are used to simulate machine gun rhythms and other effects / noises are layered in and around to give a sense of actual song structure as well as dynamics. The waves of complex harsh noise and industrial elements swell and diminish just often enough to make sure you don't suffer from ear strain.

Harsh noise from the UK coming at you in a low fidelity bit rate of 32kbps. A very punishing release that doesn't let up bit is very manageable to listen to with the warmth of the lower bit rate. Many of the sounds are reminiscent of vintage arcade games (think Pac-Man / Galaga era) and that pretty much sends it over the top for me.

Apathy by Bulgarian noisician GENDA is a very short (2 tracks) industrial noise endeavor. The tile track takes ambient textures and mixes them with industrial clanks and scrapes to create a soundtrack for life in some sort of futuristic factory (like something out of the Alien movies). Porno nation takes the same formula and shakes it up with some samples of orgasmic moaning. Even though it's short, this release provides some very complex and dense listening.

From the first track of the countdown to the number eleven, I was blown away. Ambient textures and percussives along with slightly detuned guitar chords all packaged together in a neat little box. Often times through out this release, I felt a sense of urgency that a track was building into a huge rock ballad or something of the like, but instead left me with anticipating what was to come next. I'm not quite sure where System 09 gets his pizza from, but I gotta try a slice. This release a glitched out mash up of noise, drum loops, computer sounds, vocal samples and even some classical mixed in. A very entertaining listen.

Portuguese storytelling, Casio beats, violin and crazy sound effects encompass this collaborative work between Samuel Ufus (a/k/a xarhope a/k/a xarohpe) and his girlfriend Carmen (nemraca). From the artist: "It's bad violin, it's casiocore, it's vox in spiral". Credits: xarope - casio keyboard and vocals nemraca - violin and vocals

This release is Insecticide Lobotomy's first endeavor with recording noise to cassette. Analog warmth and a caustic sound will occupy your ears for just over 45 minutes.
