Earlier today I watched a programme that explored sensory deprivation using a flotation tank. The idea of nothingness was an idea both compelling and frightening to the host: sixty minutes of nothing is a rather intimidating prospect … just you and your thoughts.
I wonder if that’s what some people think about longform drones … that a post-sixty minute ambient soundscape is, in some way, a scary proposition. I don’t know. What I do know, however, is that I like to be alone with my thoughts and Cousin Silas’ dronescapes are a great enabler for me to get some “down time”.
Dronescape 026 … yes, the twenty-sixth instalment in Cousin Silas’ longform series … is worthy addition to his post-sixty minute canon. In fact, it is a fine addition to his body of work.

Tour de force.
After having built up a 30 hour long personal collection of "Best of ambient drone" over the course of 5 years I'm always surprised when I hear another great track that has the potential of displacing the old favourites and sitting at the top of the pile. This is such a track.
