Washington Township Museum of Local History

The Washington Township Museum of Local History collection contains texts and audiovisual material (moving images and audio) from the 1850s to 2000s. A majority of the collection consists of Washingtonian yearbooks and recorded oral interviews with residents of the Washington Township area. Subjects include the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and local history of Fremont, California.

Description : Livery stable in Mission San Jose. Group of 12 people including two horse drawn carriages. This property (43327 Mission Blvd.) was built in 1895 by Daniel Baker for a livery business. Description : Sneden's Drug Store in IOOF Building. A traveling photoghrapher recorded the interior of Sneden's Drugstore in 1898, complete with its elegant gas lamp fixture. Niles received electrical services in 1900. Signs in the drugstore included 'toiletries, choice perfumes, for the complexion and teeth.' Sneden's was still going strong in 1914 when it was advertising a wide array of patent medicines as well as 'simple mixtures.' Call Number : 1996.3.1105
