âStages Of Alternate Realityâ, or S.O.A.R., continued their wild jam sessions late into the Puget Sound night on this second session. Neighbors were disturbed at great length, but we had an absolute blast twisting sounds âround until they could not (possibly) be bent in any other directions. Everyone was âtogetherâ, and by the early morning hours, there was no question that we were able to fly like the birds scattered all around the edge of the magnificent Puget Sound that we were playing...

âStages Of Alternate Realityâ, or S.O.A.R., is one of the wildest jam-bands you have ever heard. Formed on a whim by the waters of the Puget Sound, they invaded the night with sounds never before heard after the first return of Rotcod Zzaj from Morning Calm. One kra-zee ride to oblivion, without doubt! Davey Williams, Wally Shoup, & LaDonna Smith invited Zzaj to visit/play with them in a seedy lil' punk joint named "The Cavern". This CD is the result! Pennsylvania-based rock/freeform guitarist extraordinaire Mark Kissinger first joined Rotcod Zzaj in the late 1980's. They produced several very interesting tapes during the 1990's; what you will hear on this outing is the "best of", in digital form.

TRIPLE DOSE was one of the earliest collaborations between San Francisco multi-instrumentalist/poet Ernesto Diaz-Infante and âodd-istâ Rotcod Zzaj (aka Dick Metcalf). It got rave reviews from SPLENDID E-zine, & started a long trek of collabs between these two.

(excerpted from 'Free-Improv Case Studies: Bret Hart's Duets Series' by Jerry Kranitz) Bret Hart Rotcod Zzaj (Dick Metcalf) Vol I I sent Dick some percussion and drum solos. He added his keyboards. It's interesting for me to listen to what we sound like now (almost 2002) doing almost precisely what we did when we met (1988), but with infinitely better gear. Dick and I go way back and it's so refreshing that we're still pushing each other. Some of his bits on this release sound like they were...

In 1996 Dick Metcalf and I collaborated on a release titled "Journey To Reality". I really enjoyed working on this project. Dick played synthesizers and I used my ARP 2600, Odyssey & Sequencer. It was recorded on four track cassette decks. Analog heaven. Dick Metcalf's website and home of Zzaj Productions: http://zzaj.freehostia.com/wordpress/ .
