Cities remain, in spite of their occasional ugliness, one of the most beautiful kinds of amalgamations of human effort. They are also a great place to find, of course-- people. I have lived in cities for most of my life. This particular longform work, "City Of Drones", is comprised of seven pieces. One piece permeates the entire work; it is a re-working of "Mutescape", an actual field recording of an urban scene run through various filters and effects. The other six pieces...

I love long form drones. I have expressed this love previously when discussing "Stigma (waag_rel006)" by Earlyguard ( weareallghosts.bandcamp.com/album/stigma-waag-rel006 ). Longform drones give me space to think and to be within. I know this may sound a bit weird to some folk but it is my experience … longform drones are a very pleasant distraction from the hustle and bustle of daily life … they provide the opportunity to be immersed in sound for an extended period of time …...

The result of a creative challenge, this work uses a variety of acoustic instruments and sound sources to craft rhythms and ambient textures. "Dance Like Branches" was a response to an artistic challenge by C.P. McDill for mystified to compose in an older style, and without using certain tools. All sounds were created by hand in the studio from instruments played by Thomas, with the exception of the vocal samples. Musicians who like the sounds are welcome to remix them or to use them...

Mystified's third Rain album is a bright, languid, minimalistic composition which conveys a sense of self-sufficient solitude. Piano keyboard notes and chords are plucked from space and reverberate lightly in the mind. Time and space fall into the lacunae between notes, and all that remains is you at peace. The only word to describe Transient is... Smooth. Could it be a soundtrack to a futuristic noir thriller? Mystified have the tools to create an excellent cinematic dub inspired sound, but they set their own rules. Utilizing broken drones with touches of heavy static and processed vocal signals. Transient possesses a very rhythmic sound, yet is propelled only by the pulses of bass throughout.

Over 10 years ago, Thomas Park of mystified (then AutoCad), was featured in "Spin" Magazine for 2 fractal music stations he created on Live 365.com. One of these stations used as a basic premise that techno music could be created using natural data and mathematical tables. In this release, Mystified revisits the mathematical premise, featuring 3 tracks made using math tables, where mathematical formulae dictate the progressions (with minimal tweaking).

"Sovereign" is mystified's tribute to Rapoon's excellent "Cold War: Drum 'N' Bass" double cd, out on Caciocavallo Records, 2001. Thomas of Mystified has been listening to Rapoon's album quite a bit of late, and inspired by it and recent international events, felt it would be appropriate to create an album hearkening back to the original-- though to resurrect or banish a spectre, that is one of the album's central questions.

earman032 - mystified - Children of Space Children of Space, by prolific electronic music maestro Thomas Park, aka mystified, reflects in some ways a return to more ambient material by the artist. Having crafted several ambient works in the years of 2003 through 2006, Thomas took some time away from the genre, working on noise and drone music. However, he grew to miss smoother, quieter sounds, and found himself back on the ambient track in early 2008. Which is not to say that Children of Space...

I'm very proud to announce that Mystified is on Benekkea with the second chapter about machine: 'Machines2'. Six tracks between space-analogic-ambient and dub-dark-experimental electronics. The e.p. looks back in the 1960-70 when the technology help the man to conquer the moon and space around the earth. A strange acid voyage in the psychodrama of human behaviour with the machines. (Benekkea) "Machines are not just hunks of metal and plastic. They have meaning, they have significance. When...

Despite being "minimal" this new opus by Mystified is also full of subtlety and warmth. In a nutshell it is a long-form dronescape, lightly seasoned with dimly audible sparkles, tones and harmonics. The central theme is pleasantly massaging industrial hum, with a bit of distortion and crackle in it. Produced by Thomas Park, 2005. Cover art by Thomas Park. If you like the Webbed Hand Rain series, as well as the other excellent ambient releases on this label, then Constant will be your...

Rain is a series of conceptual CDs produced under the auspices of Webbed Hand Records. Each Rain is a CD-length ambient recording ideal for listening to while relaxing, working, or socializing. Typically the recordings in this series are minimalistic soundscapes, with motifs played out cyclically and repetitively, rather than progressively, in order to induce a relaxed state. Mystified's Rain 2 is a shimmering hailstorm of mysterious percussive sounds resonating across a wide space. This is...

The second installment of our "Theory" series comes from Mystified, who of course, needs no introduction. This single-track midform, "Accelerated Decrepitude" is a warped, chimey drone that slowly loses its shine over the course of its twenty minute duration. It has been pleasantly joked that those who enjoy footage of metal rusting or corroding in fast motion will especially like this release. "VibeWaves" consists of two mixes of early Mystified noise/drone tracks. The first set is "Dark Vibes". The second is called "Light Vibes". I chose these pieces because I found that they conveyed a "vibe", or mood, even though they were quite minimal. The original tracks appeared on various cdr, cassette and netreleases many years ago. "Constant 16" is a longform drone piece created using radio signals generated by the Earth, granular synthesis, and a variety of other processes. "Constant" pieces are works of minimal drone that tend to use a "less is more" approach. The idea of these songs is to create the least possible ambient drone material necessary for listening. "Amalgam" is a large collection of early audio experiments created by mystified, mostly during the year 2006. Granulated synthesis, strange looping techniques, shortwave, AM radio, household objects, and other techniques and sources were used. Some of these are quite primitive, while more are like complete songs. Thomas of mystified would like to...

Machines... More than technology to help us through the day, they also have a sense of personality. If you don't believe this compare in your mind the machines from, say, the 1920s to those from today-- think of your cell phone, then the Goldbergian monstrosity Bell invented. Doesn't this difference mark the character of 2 diffferent eras? This EP by Mystified looks back, sometimes a decade, and sometimes as far as a century, to machines of the past, and the sounds they might make in our minds.

Mystified has expanded the original Bone Drones trilogy into new territory thanks to the acquisition of a new instrument. A recently invented trombone called the Jiggs pBone has revolutionized the world of "brass" instruments. Although it is constructed of plastic, it is capable of the rich tones and volume of its traditional metallic cousin. It is in its lighter weight and less brassy overtones that new possibilities occur, and thusly inspired, Thomas Park of Mystified has undertaken...

"'Stress Test' was written in response to the Debt Ceiling crisis that occurred in the summer of 2011 in the U.S.A..
