A massive archive of R.E.M. rarities, featuring basically every non-album track from 1981 to 2004 - B-sides, compilation appearances, fan club singles, etc., etc.. Unfortunately the source I got this from wasn't tagged, so everything's just listed as 'Track 1', 'Track 2', etc. I did copy across a .txt from another source (that I, for some reason, couldn't get any of the .flac files from), so at some point in the future I'll edit this upload and add the stuff - maybe, there's a lot of it here...

R.E.M. - Reckoning
Topic: R.E.M. - Reckoning
Two different sources of a university show in the later months of the Reckoning tour. A show that squeezes a lot of songs into its running time, the first tape is higher quality but misses the second and third encores, while the second is near-complete (misses the first song and a half, and a little bit of 'Windout') but lower quality. Great bouncy show with almost every song from Reckoning (only 'Letter Never Sent' is absent), four then-new songs from Fables and Pageant , and the...

Basically every song they played here features on this 3xCD compilation, the first of which shares much of its source with the official release on Murmur 's 25th anniversary and the last two of which show just how many covers they made. Possibly the weirdest place for a band to perform, Hardee's is a fast food restaurant at the State University of New Jersey that somehow found itself host to an R.E.M. show on the Murmur tour. A recently surfaced second source helped make the sound of this show a lot better (although some bits are patched in from the bad-sounding original recording), and it's a very nice show with almost all of the early material in place. A muffled cassette recording from the Murmur tour, but it's a very nice 90-minute show. The band (including Michael performing with an eyepatch!) play through a strong setlist with most of the highlights of Murmur and the next year's Reckoning , plus almost all of Chronic Town and a few other B-sides and covers. Nothing particularly rare, but a great closing number. Track listing: Moral Kiosk Catapult Letter Never Sent Pilgrimage 7 Chinese Bros. Talk About the Passion So. Central Rain...

R.E.M.'s demo tape for RCA Records and third overall produced by Kurt Munkacsi. Several of the tracks listed had been recorded prior for their first EP, Chronic Town, but the rest didn't see release until their debut LP, and in one case, a film soundtrack 5 years later. While the Chronic Town tracks don't sound too dissimilar from the EP, the remainders have many differences from the final whether that be alternate lyrics, arrangements, ect. This specific rip of the tape was sourced from a...

R.E.M.'s first Providence show that isn't at the Living Room (and Michael notes this during the set), a frenetic show on the Reckoning tour that includes all but one of that album's songs ('Camera' as a rarity!) as well as a pile of others - an early version of the then-unreleased 'Kohoutek' is another gem. Great audio recording, although it doesn't quite capture Michael's quiet take of 'Moon River' before he storms off in a rage. Track listing: Radio Free Europe [cuts in] Harborcoat...

Playing at the University of Iowa on their way around on the Preconstruction leg of the 1985 tour. The first show of the North American leg of the Up tour, and it's an absolute gem. The setlist includes tour rarities 'E-Bow the Letter' and 'Low Desert', the recording is excellent, and the band are goofing off and in high spirits - see Michael's stories before 'Fall on Me' and during 'Falls to Climb', plus the entirety of 'Its the End of the World'. Flying straight to Germany after the Madison Square Garden shows finished up, the band are jetlagged and they apologise for it on this show (Peter misses his cue on 'Losing My Religion'!). Although the quality of this recording isn't that great (the audio is alright, but there's plenty of VHS snow, a few cuts, and bits from unrelated bands on the tapes), it's a pretty notable recording from the rescheduled European tour for Monster . The Green tour bought R.E.M. to Italy for the first time, the introduction to a country they would find success and fame in (playing there thirty six more times over the next two decades).
