I fancied tackling something a bit more in depth for my next project, and one of the things that bugged me about certain tanks in 40k was that they had practically no suspension or ground clearance. So something that looked plausible was high on my agenda. There are two versions of the hull and tracks included, the V2 set is slightly lower as I couldn't decide which I preferred. Only one hull weapon so far, I'll update it when I've had chance to try out some more designs. If you print it let me...

I have a ghost praying mantis that needed a new place to live, so I recreated the facehugger containment tube from the first 'Alien' movie. I looked at some photos to model it, but didn't go nuts trying to make it perfect. I think it could work to house a variety of small animals, maybe scale it up, add some silicone caulking and put a fish in it? The holes in the top work and printed ok, but honestly should be done away with entirely. It adds a ton of time to the print and doesn't print all...

"Captain Video and His Video Rangers" episode from circa 1950. This series aired on the DuMont Television Network from 1949 to 1955 and was the first sci-fi series on American television. Over 1000 episodes were aired, of which about 24 survive. This episode was written by MC Brock and stars Richard Coogan. It was broadcast live each weekday. The show spawned at least 3 spin-offs of which nothing survives.

This polychromatic composition is an exploration and demonstration of the musical use of interactive harmonics. It is an example of the gestalt principle in the sense that the whole (output harmonics) is greater than the sum of the parts (input notes and harmonics). Heterodyne - an existing concept that is a closest description (not explanation) of this musical phenomena of 'extra' harmonics created in the interaction of two or more notes. Horizon - in the sense of always evolving boundaries of...

SlipStream - sometimes, unusual ideas can catalyze a creative 'momentum' and encourage a desire to explore new perspectives. A use of the limitation of 16 MIDI channels, vis-à-vis random note cancellation, for a musical effect of 'convergence' - a technique creating a sense of the emergence of a smaller group of notes within the larger whole. Notice the sound of a gradual merging/converging of notes into a subset of harmonies contained within the initial sound. Listen for the effect at 1:15 .

My first composition with the Lumatone keyboard prototype. 55 notes per octave. This controller will hopefully be in production in late 2020. The Lumatone permits assignment of custom key colors, MIDI note and channel numbers. This is the first keyboard controller that I have used which does not have an embedded 12 note chromatic (black note) pattern. As a result, I am applying the polychromatic system to pitches A through G and using pitch-color to designate varying shades of flat/sharp. This...

Musing about what comes after the polarizing divisiveness of this postmodern time and culture. I've noticed that when listening to music with lyrics, my mind always engages with the musical sound and it takes alot of effort to focus on the lyrics. By extension, I wonder if, as musicians we each have unique tendencies to put a sonic aspect in the ‘foreground’ of our perception (melody, harmony, rhythm, timbre, words). Maybe this orientation becomes a ‘baseline’ perspective from which we...

Art exists to express the unique experiences, emotions and ideas of each era. In an era of increasingly rapid change, and the erosion of language through misinformation, disinformation and ‘plausible deniability’, some sense of enduring foundation is more necessary than ever. This is the ‘stillness’ that can guide and inspire in a world of quickening transience and nihilism. Art can hint at the existence of deeper, sublime perspectives, and a sense of hope and possibilities beyond the...
